Drew Barrymore says she doesn’t understand relationships
Washington, Jan 15 : Drew Barrymore has revealed that she had such an unconventional upbringing that she finds it hard to understand what it''s like to be in a normal relationship.
The `Charlie''s Angels' star's parents divorced when she was a kid and she has always found it difficult to rebuild a normal relationship with them after they split.
And the actress is convinced that her parents' divorce has had an influence on the romances she has had since.
"I''ve never really understood how I should feel or behave in a relationship. I didn''t have the kind of childhood which would have given me any perspective on what a happy home life or relationship would feel like," Contactmusic quoted her, as telling Britain''s OK! Magazine.
"My father was literally out of his mind and my mother was more like a friend. She''d take me out to clubs and I wound up feeling like part of this very unreal kind of world, although that was the only world I ever knew growing up," she added.
The 33-year-old actress' failed marriages have had a lasting effect on her, and she insists on settling down.
"It left me without any bearings when it came to how to live in general. That obviously affects you in terms of everything else you''re going to experience. So I haven''t had as much happiness or success in my past relationships as I would have liked," Barrymore said.
"What''s helped me is having really good and close friends who I''ve always been able to rely on," she added. (ANI)
