Double Centuries Missed By Chopra, Kohli

Delhi benefited from the partnership of Aakash Chopra and Virat Kohli, who narrowly missed their double centuries. On Wednesday, Delhi finished at 516 for four in its second innings in the Mohammad Nissar Trophy match against Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) at the Ferozeshah Kotla.

Before the rain stopped play, Delhi was making a statement, resuming at 242 for one and leading with 384. On the final day, when rains struck Kotla, it was looking more like a swimming pool than a cricket ground. However The Chief of Ground staff, Radhey Shyam Sharma, confidently said that if the rain stops, play would continue after the afternoon.

With the aim to reach their double centuries, Chopra and Kohli knocked off the runs. Whereas Chopra required 18 runs, Kohli needed only three. Without any rest in between, the two kept on their efforts to gain runs, which kept flowing continuously. Chopra also kept on advising his junior partner and an attack by SNGPL was proved to be useless.
.
Chopra reported after the game, “The idea is to make runs and I hope to play for India again. It feels great to make runs but it would have been better if I had got my double century. No regrets though because we have lot of games ahead. I enjoyed my batting.”
