Don’t Compare Me With King Khan, Says Boman Irani

boman_iraniBoman Irani’s role in Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal,’ this year’s second sports film, is much talked about. Boman is playing role of a coach of a beleaguered team and a man with past that doesn’t leave him.

Boman does realize that his role will be compared to that of Shah Rukh Khan’s in ‘Chak De.’

He said, “I don’t know why we have to be competitive in this field of art. A film is a film is a film. There is no reason to treat it as competition. Like everyone else I too was inspired by Shah Rukh’s performance in ‘Chak De’. But there is no reason for anyone to compare our roles or characters.”

He added, “Nothing in life comes easy. You have to work hard for it. At the same time, you also have to like what you are working on. For this role, I did do a lot of research such as learning about the game and understanding its intricacies. One can’t just be ‘ad-libbing’ on screen without understanding what you are talking about.”

After ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal’, the actor will start working on television quiz show. ‘Little Zizou’ and ‘Love Story 2050’ are also in talks. But Boman is not only looking for good roles to play.

Boman said, “All I want is to go on a nice two- week holiday and do nothing. I have been at it for quite a long while now and one does get tired. Unfortunately, I am not sure whether I will be allowed to take a holiday right now, so that will have to wait.”
