Perth, Australia  - With Jelena Dokic finally putting her life back together both on and off the court, the surprise Australian Open quarter-finalist may soon be back in contact with her younger brother.

The estranged Dokic family is now spread around the globe, with former tennis bad dad Damir involved in a Serbian vineyard near Belgrade and his Croatian ex-wife Ljiljana now based in Sydney.

Son Savo is finishing secondary school in Belgrade and is keen to get reacquainted with his big sister, who is playing this week for Australia at the Fed Cup in Perth and has boosted her adopted country to a round-robin win over South Korea.

"Jelena and I talk on the phone whenever we have a chance and discuss many things, mostly tennis, but also about family," Savo told Belgrade media. "I'm so happy she returned to the court, showing everybody how strong she is."

Dokic is said to have had only telephone contact with her Australian-based mother.

Damir Dokic, banned from WTA events after drunkenness and other misbehavior around the turn of the century, pulled the family back to their native Serbia in 2001 after complaining that the Australian Open draw was "fixed" against his then-teenaged daughter.

The family slowly broke up as Dokic fell to the bottom of the tennis pile, coming close to quitting in 2007 before regrouping with a new coaching and personal team after making a break from her father. (dpa)
