DHL to set up logistics facility near Chennai

DHL to set up logistics facility near ChennaiGlobal logistics market leader, DHL has announced that it is going to set up a logistics and warehousing facility at Sriperambadur near Chennai. It has also said that it will invest $10 million at this upcoming free trade warehousing zone (FTWZ) in an initial basis. Hence the company will become the first global logistics company to come up with a facility within a notified FTWZ.

The total are of this particular site is 2.6 lakh sq ft. This was developed by infrastructure developer Sunil Rallan. Now DLF will use 1.3 lakh sq ft as its warehouse purpose. By this facility the company is expecting to provide consolidated operations for distribution management and trading. This will both into and out of the country. However, Sunil Rallan and his venture are also investing $10 million to create the basic infrastructure for DHL as well. DLF has been its anchor client.

DHL Global forwarding, South Asia Pacific, chief executive officer Amadou Diallo has informed that the company has facilities in Dubai (Jebel Ali) and Singapore. The huge success in these facilities has made them to create its first logistics hub in India.
