Denmark lowers lending rate to 5 per cent
Copenhagen - Denmark's central bank Thursday shadowed an interest rate cut by the European Central Bank and lowered its lending rate by 0.50 percentage points to 5 per cent.
The cut was effective as of Friday, the bank said.
The Danish central bank had raised its lending rate on October 24 to 5.5 per cent in a move to "support the Danish krone."
The central bank said the discount rate and the current account rate were also to be lowered by 50 points to 4 per cent as of Friday.
Denmark is a member of the European Union, but not a member of the eurozone. (dpa)
