DataWind launches UbiSlate 7Ci in India
DataWind, the makers of Aakash tablets, has announced the launch of UbiSlate 7Ci entry level tablet in the Indian market.
This 7-inch tablet is aiming to attract new customers in price sensitive market place by offering ffordable pricing. The tablet comes with Android 4.0 and is powered by a 1GHz processor. It comes with 523MB RAM and as for connectivity options, its offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The company is offering 4GB internal storage that can be expanded using a card slot.
The 7-inch capacitive display offers a 800x480 pixel resolution and the screen is reasonable touch performance. The app offers several features like browser, calculator, calendar and camera. The tablet will be priced in the sub Rs. 5000 category in the country and will compete with the likes of Zen tablet and others.
DataWind is offering its new Aakash 2 tablet computer in the Indian market after it developed older Aakash tablet as part of the government's initiative to provide affordable tablets to students in the country. The newer tablet, Aakash 2, which is officially named Ubislate 7 is believed to be a better alternative to the original version.
The Indian authorities have placed an order of 100,000 units of the original affordable Akash tablet that are meant to empower higher education students in the country and fill the digital divide.
