Cyber-bullying leads to many problems in teenagers
According to reports, cyber-bullying leads to a number of problems; children take many severe steps as a result of it. They hurt others and even decide to end their life. This indicates that the problem is increasing and is leading to tragic results most of the times.
As per a new study, 23% of teens are or have been affected by cyber-bullying and another 15% bullied someone else online. As per reports, review of 10 studies by researchers that looked at the association between depression and social media victimization, showed an important correlation. The study has been published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics.
As per the National Institute of Mental Health, in 2012, nearly 2.2 million adolescents were having at least one big depressive incident in the past year.
It was revealed in a national survey of more than 10,000 adolescents that almost 1 in 3 teens were prone to an anxiety disorder. Nearly 8.3% of all the teens are troubled as a result of severe anxiety, together with generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and phobias.
As per reports, approximately 5% to 8% of teens in the US attempt suicide every year, with another 16% seriously thinking about it within the past few months. Every year, roughly 157,000 children age 10-24 are treated in emergency departments for wounds caused by them only.
