Cricketers’ relatives join T20 victory celebrations
Rohtak/New Delhi, Sept 25 : Relatives of Indian cricketers joined the celebrations on Tuesday as the nation erupted with joy after a thrilling win over archrivals Pakistan in the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship in Johannesburg in South Africa.
Medium pace bowler Joginder Sharma's family celebrated the victory at the cricketer's residence in Rohtak.
"Seeing his performance in the earlier matches, we were confident about his ability to lead the match towards victory. We all are very happy with his work," said Om Prakash Sharma, Joginder’s father.
Joginder was entrusted with the last crucial over by captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The bowler proved his mettle when he cracked the wicket of Pakistani batman Misbah-ul-Haq to give India its second world cup in international cricket.
The Men in Blue snatched a tense five-run win off the last over in Johannesburg, as the cricket-mad sub-continent erupted in joy on one side of the border and slumped in dismay on the other. (With inputs from ANI)
