CPI says US had knowledge that NSG meet would fail
Mumbai, Aug 25 : The Communist Party of India today accused the US of being responsible for the failure of the recent Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) meeting in Vienna to give India a waiver for global nuclear commerce.
CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan told media persons here today, "Small countries raised objections and it was not without the knowledge of the US."
Bardhan said that most of the objections at Vienna were raised on the clauses of the Hyde Act, like continuous fuel supply to India.
He further added that as a result, India wouldn''t get clean and unconditional waiver, which the government has been claiming so far.
Bardhan also expressed fear that the US would force India to accept the amendments suggested at the NSG meet.
Meanwhile, the NSG is expected to meet again on September 4 to take a final decision on the issue. (ANI)
