Congress confident of coming back to power: Sibal

Kapil SibalNew Delhi, Feb. 25 : Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal said on Wednesday that the Congress Party is confident that people will vote them back to power in General Election 2009, as it has fulfilled all the pledged promises of people.

"If we are able to go to the people in united fashion and to convey to the people that we have fulfilled the pledged promises that we have made in the 2004 Lok Sabha (national) elections, having fulfilled them if we go to the people we believe that the people will bring us back to power and we will be back in the 15th Lok Sabha forming government at the center," said Sibal.

General elections, to be held sometime in May, are likely to be contest between the Congress party and the National Democratic Alliance, headed by the BJP.

In assembly elections held late in 2008, BJP had tried to cash in on the after effect of the Mumbai Terror attacks, which killed 179 people in November. However, the strategy proved to be a no-show for the party. (ANI)
