Washington - US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with Spanish Foreign minister Miguel Angel Moratinos Monday for talks on Latin America, following a summit in Peru.

Moratinos was in Washington after attending the Latin American-EU- Caribbean summit last week in Lima, Peru.

Rice and Moratinos were to discuss relations in the western hemisphere and the Middle East peace process, as well as the NATO effort in Afghanistan to defeat Taliban insurgents and root out the terrorist network al-Qaeda, US State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said. (dpa)
