Isuzu Motors enters north India, launches new vehicles

Isuzu-Motors-pickup-DmaxGurgaon/New Delhi, May 29 : Isuzu Motors Thursday opened its first outlet in the national capital region in a bid to enter the north India market.

"North is an important region for us, contributing to approximately 30 percent of the total pickup sales in the country," said Takashi Kikuchi, managing director, Isuzu Motors India.

"We are observing a gradual shift from small commercial vehicles to pick-ups, which is one of fastest growing segments in commercial vehicles (CV), accounting for 35 percent of the total CV market."

Isuzu launches 'D-Max Space Cab' pickupGreater Noida, Feb 5 - Japanese auto major Isuzu Motors Wednesday launched a new variant of its popular D-Max pickup truck called the "space cab" that will be available for around Rs. 8 lakh and is aimed at rural and towns.

The space cab has a specially built cabin which gives 1.5 feet of extra space behind the drivers' seat - differentiating it from the existing D-Max pickup. The additional room can be used for carrying personal belongings, luggage and pets that require care.

Isuzu launches MU-7 SUV in KochiThe Indian arm of Japanese manufacturer Isuzu Motors on Thursday launched its MU-7 sports utility vehicle (SUV), which promises a great driving experience along with ample space and comfort.

Launched in Kochi, the longest-in-its-class MU-7 SUV is powered by four cylinder 2999cc intercooled VGS Turbo Diesel engine capable of producing power of 163 PS at rate of 3600 RPM and torque of 360NM at rate of 1800-2800 RPM.  It may be noted here that the engines of Ambassador Cars are also manufactured by Isuzu.

A senior company official said that the company will make the investment during the coming five years in the south Indian state.  The company will begin the construction for the plant at Sri City this month, according to, Isuzu Motors India president and managing director Takashi Kikuchi.

On Tuesday, the auto giant said that it was looking to make the planned investment in its Sri City, Hyderabad-based new manufacturing facility, which should become operational by 2015-16. The 107-acre manufacturing facility will have an annual production capacity of 120,000 units.

Isuzu, which currently export 60 per cent of production from Japan, foresees India as a future hub for its exports.

Hindustan Motors to roll out Isuzu trucks, SUVs

Hindustan-MotorsChennai, June 28 : Kolkata-based Hindustan Motors Ltd (HML) said Friday it will contract manufacture sports utility vehicles (SUV) at its Thiruvallur plant near here for Isuzu Motors India Private Ltd.

In a statement issued here, Hindustan Motors said it has signed a contract manufacturing agreement with Isuzu Motors India, a subsidiary of Japan's Isuzu Motors to roll out SUVs and pickup trucks.

"The components for producing these vehicles will be imported by Isuzu Motors from Thailand and assembled in HML's factory," the statement said.

Isuzu Motors to set up manufacturing facility in Andhra PradeshJapanese automotive giant, Isuzu Motors India Private Limited has announced its plans to set up a new manufacturing facility for producing pick-up trucks and sport utility vehicles (SUV) in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The company has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with the Andhra Pradesh government and Sri City industrial park for setting up a manufacturing facility. The plant will be located at the special economic zone in South of AP's Chittoor district called Sri City industrial park.

Over 258,000 SUVs being recalled by GM and Isuzu to fix power windowsAccording to documents posted on the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, more than 258,000 sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) in the US and Canada are being recalled by General Motors (GM) and Japan-based Isuzu Motors, for fixing an issue with power windows.

The SUVs which are being recalled include the 2006-2007 models of five of GM's mid-sized SUV brands: Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 97-X.
