Comedian Katt Williams arrested on weapons charges; released
According to the New York Daily News, Comedian Katt Williams was arrested in midtown Manhattan early Thursday morning, on weapons charges.
The police found 35-year-old performer's Mercedes bus and red Cadillac Escalade parked on Broadway. They noticed that the SUV was missing a license plate, and three guns were in plain sight inside the vehicles. When Williams emerged from a nearby building, and told the cops that the vehicles were his, they handcuffed him.
William's was later released on bail - after he posted $25,000 bond - in time to make it for his show at Carnegie Hall.
The paper reported: "Wearing baggy jeans and a satin shirt, Williams spritzed himself with cologne and jumped into a black limo. Half an hour later, it screeched to a stop near the rear stage entrance on West 56th Street, and Williams, surrounded by bodyguards, jumped out and disappeared into the hall."
William told the audience at the hall that he "just got out of jail." He assured them that he raced to the show because of them, not for the payday. He said: "I wasn't thinking about the money - maybe because they paid me in advance."
The last week, by and large, was a wild one for "Pimp Chronicles" comedian Williams. First, there were false rumors over the weekend that he had died in a plane crash. Then, he missed 'Late Night With Conan O'Brien' appearance night before arrest.
