A group of civil society organizations has calling for a review of the environment impact assessment (EIA) reports that were carried for various projects in the sate of Odisha.

The Water Initiatives Odisha (WIO), which represents a group of such organizations, has pointed out that said the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has observed that consultants have included inaccurate data in such reports.

WIO convenor Ranjan Panda said, "We have been saying this since quite a long time. Now with the vindication of the same by NGT, the authorities should re-look to the reports on the basis of which clearances were given to some big ticket projects in the state."

He also said that following the pointing out of inaccuracies in the reports, the organizations urges both the state government and the central government to take actions and initiative a review of all these reports. He said that there should be an open public audit of the reports with independent people given the authority to screen reports.

The suggestions and views of experts from different fields should also be incorporated into the review process, according to Panda.
