Chidambaram assures adequate security to Orissa during polls
Bhubaneswar, Mar 20 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram today assured Orissa Government to provide adequate security for the smooth conduct of polls in the State.
After reviewing the internal security situation here, Chidambaram said, Orissa faced security threat from Naxalites and communal forces. It is the duty of the State Government to maintain law and order in Kandhamal district and other naxalite affected areas during elections.
On providing helicopter to Orissa, he said the centre would consider if concrete proposals from state government come to the ministry in this regard.
The assembly and parliamentary polls will be held in the state in two phases on April 16 and 23. (ANI)
