Channel Five HD version to feature in BSkyB

Channel-Five-LogoIn a bid to maximise the consumer offerings Channel five has released its first high-definition channel, which encloses an agreement with BSkyB.

According to Channel Five, which is running short of finances, it had plans to launch the HD version by 2012 on Freeview. With this current move, it would fasten the path by July and the users might be able to view their favourites on Sky's satellite service.

"Our programme schedule is more suited to HD than that any other major free-to-air commercial broadcaster given the wide range of high quality series we broadcast, such as our top-rated line-up of US dramas," an excited Charles Constable, Director of Strategy explained.

Channel Five HD will air the popular shows, which include Neighbours, Home & Away and international cricket and it will be accessible for more than two million customers who have a Sky with a HD set top box.

As the market watchdogs say five's offering is by the 42nd HD channel to commit to launch on BSkyB. ITV 1 HD, Sky News HD, Sky Sports HD 4 and Hallmark Channel HD are next in queue to feature themselves in the nearing months.
