Bharti Q2 Revenue Up 42% At Rs 9020 CroreBharti Airtel Limited, India’s leading integrated telecom services provider, has declared the results for the three and six month period ended September 30, 2008.

The company has once again maintained its strong growth momentum.

For the quarter, the consolidated total revenues grew 42% to Rs 9,020 crore, while EBITDA stood at Rs 3,699 crore, up 37%, on a year on year basis.

The company’s net income for the three-month period ended Sep 30, 2008, rose 27% to Rs 2,046 crore over last year.

Vodafone Enters Into Partnership With Russia's MTSBritish telecom firm Vodafone has clinched a strategic partnership with Russia-based Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) OJSC, which includes collaboration on future technological developments.

According to the sources, the non-equity partnership agreement has been signed to offer clientele with high quality communication services.

The pact would also offer Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) access to products, services and devices from Vodafone for its markets of operation in Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Armenia.

Telenor announces third-quarter earnings, India investment plans

Oslo - Norwegian telecommunications group Telenor on Wednesday posted an increase in pre-tax profit and sales for third- quarter of 2008 and unveiled plans to expand into India.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were 10 billion kroner (1.44 billion dollars), compared to 9.48 billion kroner in the corresponding business period of 2007.

Sales increased year-on-year from 26.6 billion kroner to 27.6 billion kroner, the group said.

Chief executive Jon Fredrik Baksaas said Telenor had 159 million mobile telephone subscriptions at the end of the quarter.

Baksaas said the business environment was "currently more turbulent, and we foresee a period with lower global growth."

Presently, the company is scouting for a strategic partner who can help it, to build the telecom business.

Unitech is among the few companies, which had recently bagged telecom licences along with Swan, Datacom and Shyam Telelink. The company has secured licences for 22 circles and spectrum in 13 circles.
