India's largest telecom major, Bharti Airtel has set a target of $10-bn revenue by next year. The view was asserted by chairman and managing director, Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Bharti Mittal in the sidelines of a function, organized to launch new brand identity and logo of Bharti group.
Public sector telecom operator BSNL has launched its Web Conferencing that would permit audio, video and image transfer facility to its broadband customers.
Police commissioner Shankar Bidari inaugurated the BSNL Web Conferencing service in Bangalore on Monday.
While explaining the salient features of Web Conferencing, BSNL Karnataka Principal General Manager Subendu Ghosh stated that audio, video and image transfer could be done simultaneously through this new facility.
Now, BSNL customers can avail lower ISD call rates for the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (Saarc) countries. The state-run telecom company slashed call rates by 15-35 percent on Sunday. The decision would cover landline as well as mobile customers.
The call rates for Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Maldives and Bhutan would be Rs.9 per minute instead of the existing Rs.10 under post-paid plan of Rs 725.
Call charges for BSNL fixed line users would now be Rs.9.60 per minute for a 7.5 second pulse.
Bharti Airtel Limited, India’s leading integrated telecom services provider, has declared the results for the three and six month period ended September 30, 2008.
The company has once again maintained its strong growth momentum.
For the quarter, the consolidated total revenues grew 42% to Rs 9,020 crore, while EBITDA stood at Rs 3,699 crore, up 37%, on a year on year basis.
The company’s net income for the three-month period ended Sep 30, 2008, rose 27% to Rs 2,046 crore over last year.
British telecom firm Vodafone has clinched a strategic partnership with Russia-based Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) OJSC, which includes collaboration on future technological developments.
According to the sources, the non-equity partnership agreement has been signed to offer clientele with high quality communication services.
The pact would also offer Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) access to products, services and devices from Vodafone for its markets of operation in Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Armenia.
