Bushes have bought house in Dallas

DALLAS, Dec. 4  -- President Bush and his wife, Laura, have bought a house in an upscale neighborhood in Dallas, the White House confirmed Thursday.

Laura Bush's office would not give the exact location of the house, The Dallas Morning News reported.

The newspaper said the couple's future home appears to be on a cul-de-sac in the Preston Hollow neighborhood. Robert McCleskey, Bush's accountant in Midland, Texas, bought a house on Daria Place appraised at more than $2 million as a trustee in October, records on file with the Dallas Central Appraisal District showed.

The house next door just changed hands to an undisclosed buyer, the real estate blog published by D magazine reported. The house is smaller than the one McCleskey purchased and could be used as a base for the Secret Service.

The Bushes owned a house in Preston Hollow, which was sold when the future president was elected governor of Texas. They continued to own their ranch in Crawford.

Former President George H. W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, also live in Texas, although in Houston, several hundred miles south of Dallas. (UPI)
