BSP Will Support UPA Candidate - Mayawati

UP Chief Minister MayawatiLucknow: While addressing a press conference, Uttar Pradesh and BSP president, Mayawati said that the BSP will back up the UPA applicant Hamid Ansari in the Vice-President election to be held on Friday.

She also said she had not specified her party’s support when the name of the UPA candidate was declared in July. The BSP Parliament Members will support the UPA contender.

At present, both the Mayawati Government and the Congress-led UPA Government were enjoying “close ties.” The CM looked for Rs.80000-crore expansion package from the Centre.

Mr. Manmohan Singh was supposed to visit Lucknow on Wednesday but the visit was postponed. He is expected to visit the State capital after this month.

In the Presidential election, Ms. Maywati had backed up the UPA-Left applicant, Pratibha Patil, who gained ground.
