BSE Sensex Closes at Four Month Low

BSE Sensex Closes at Four Month LowBSE Sensex breached 16,000 level in today's trading session and closed at four month low. BSE Sensex closed 1.83 per cent lower at 16030. For BSE Sensex, 52-week low is 15,190 and if the economic troubles continue, market experts believe that we may see further lows for Indian market. In the past three months, the markets have declined 11.7 per cent.

Among sectors, Automobiles, Banking, Capital Goods, Consumer Durables and Metals were major losers. All sectoral indices closed in the red.

Among major losers were Tata Motors. The auto major lost 7.3% to close the day at Rs 269. Finance major HDFC was at Rs 621 at closing bell. Among metal counters, SAIL was down by 4.46% to close at 84.6 while Tata Steel lost nearly 4.2% to close at Rs 400.

The stocks which touched 52-week low were BHEL, Biocon, BPL, Chennai Petro, Eastern Silk, Educomp Solutions, GAIL, Godrej Properties, Hindalco, Infomedia 18, Jagran Prakashan, Kingfisher Airlines, MTNL, Network 18 and NTPC.

PSU Banking major PNB continued its downward journey touching 52-week low today. TVS Motor Company also touched 52-week low in today's trade.

Reliance Industries also touched 52-week low pointing towards weak investor sentiment. Markets are expected to bounce back only after positive news from Europe and US markets. Asian markets also closed lower.
