British man has become the first swimmer at Mt Everest
A British survival swimmer came up to the peak of his power to become first person to swim under ice water at the top of the Mount Everest. It has been reported that the swimmer Lewis Gordon Pugh battled against the freezing water only by a pair of Speedos, a cap and goggles.
After the nine months from announcing the project, he set off for Mount Everest summit on 5th of May this year. He has crossed the one kilometer (0.62 miles) glacial lake situate nest to the Khumbu Glacier just by wearing all this. It was not an easy job either.
At once he was almost drowned during test swims on the Pumori Lake. It is situated 17,000 feet above sea level. However, he has managed to complete his swim in a time of 22 minutes and 51 seconds and has created a new record.
Earlier Pugh has battled against the ice cold water in Antarctica and across the North Pole by swimming with speed and aggression. The 40-year-old Pugh has got the nickname of the 'Human Polar Bear' for his inherent ability in arctic conditions.
