Bomb with mobile phone trigger found in Agartala

Agartala, TripuraAgartala, Oct 5 : One more live bomb was recovered from Radhanagar area of Agartala on today, which was later defused by the bomb squad of National Security Guard (NSG).

The Additional Superintendent of Tripura Police, Bijoy Nag, said highly explosive which was connected to a mobile phone with a nine-volt battery.

The bomb inside a plastic bag was lying in a drain, which was first noticed by the locals of that area and they informed the police.

Police immediately rushed to the spot and tried to defuse the bomb but was not successful and so called the NSG bomb squad.

After four hours hardship NSG was successful in defusing the bomb by breaking the connecting cables between the detonate and the bomb and conducting a low intensity explosion to destroy the mobile phone which was used to detonate it.

A cell phone along with sim-card, nine-volt battery, wires and chemicals were found at the site of the explosion.

Police along with NSG and bomb experts of the Forensic Science Laboratory collected all samples for chemicals test to find out the explosives in the bomb.

Today’s incident has proved that the police’s claim that the terrorists used a mobile phone as a timer device and batteries of nine-volts in Wednesday’s serial blasts is correct.

It may be recalled that about 73 were injured when five bombs went off within 30 minutes in crowded market places and a bus stand. In connection with the blasts police arrested four suspects on Thursday out of whom three are Bangladesh nationals. (ANI)
