BMW to start used operations by April

BMW to start used operations by AprilEven after dethroning Mercedes-Benz as the leader of luxury car market in 2009, BMW India is in no mood to be complacent. In fact, with a view to strengthen its position in the Indian market, the company now plans to open its used car business by April this year. The used car business will be known as 'BMW Premium Selection'.

The company is planning to garner around 30% of its total sales from the used car business. However, the company will only accept those vehicles which are sold after BMW entered India in 2006.

According to market research study done by the company, an average user drive its luxury vehicle for 5.6 years in the Indian market.

By initialising its used car business, the company is aiming to bring it down to 3-4 years. The company is planning to open its first used car showroom in Chennai being followed by the second one in Gurgaon by the third quarter of the current year.

The company also has plans to start individual car leasing programs under which it will start leasing BMW products to individual customers.
