Blackwell to begin three-month trial of the Espresso Book Machine! According to the 'Daily Mail' reports, a revolution of sorts appears to be on the cards with regard to bookselling - particularly searching for the exhausting search for those out-of-print, obscure and otherwise long-forgotten books, as well as the out-of-stock novels!

In its attempt to make the search for 'hard-to-find' books easier for the readers, popular book chain Blackwell is soon going ahead with a three-month trial of an innovative machine - the Espresso Book Machine - at its London store. The machine to be installed can reportedly print out any one book at a time, out of its vast computer database of nearly 400,000 titles - and that too, within a few minutes!

Barring the obvious limitation of a hardback, the machine brings out prints that look and feel like a book. The developers of the machine opine that the super-fast printing will also be advantageous for the wannabe novelists, who need to simply walk in to a shop with a CD of their work and, in minutes, have their book professionally printed.

About the benefits of the new printing machine, Blackwell's Andrew Hutchings said: "With the Espresso Book Machine you can order it and have it in your hand within a few minutes. Having books printed on-demand also reduces the carbon footprint and cuts down on the number that is pulped or sent back."
