BlackBerry Messenger app delayed for iOS and Android

BlackBerry Messenger app delayed for iOS and AndroidThere are indications that the launch of BlackBerry Messenger app for both Android and iOS is likely to be delayed.

The app allows users to send and receive text messages to other BlackBerry Messenger users without paying text-messaging fees. BlackBerry Messenger has remained a popular platform for BlackBerry users ever since it was launched by the company on its devices. Even as BlackBerry devices are facing a decline, the BlackBerry Messenger has remained a popular choice of users around the world.

BlackBerry might be planning to separate BlackBerry Messenger service into a separate company. An independent BlackBerry Messenger will be able to compete with the likes of Whatsapp and WeTalk in the global smartphone market. Leaked versions of the Android and iOS apps have already appeared on the internet indicating that the company is looking to launch these apps for the platform soon.

Reports have suggested that the company had built BBM that can work across several platforms a year earlier and a desktop version is also running internally at BlackBerry. However, BlackBerry has officially disabled the Android version of the app for the time being and has also delayed the official launch for an unspecified amount of time.
