BJP supports TRS for a separate state in Andhra Pradesh
New Delhi, Feb 28 : Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Thursday reiterated that its supports with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on the issue of carving separate state of Telangana in Andhra Pradesh.
“BJP is ready to extend its support for separate state as it believes that new sates can be carved out of the bigger states in order to speed up the development,” said BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani, while addressing TRS workers at the Jantar Mantar.
"We want that you people have your own state soon," Advani added.
Advani also lambasted the Congress party for making false promises to the people of the Telangana region to carve out a new state.
The TRS, contested state assembly polls in 2004 in alliance with the Congress, which they feel has betrayed the promise to grant separate statehood to Telangana region, comprising 10 districts of Andhra Pradesh, including Hyderabad. (ANI)
