BJP should be visible as party with diversities: PM Modi
New Delhi, Nov 1 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who launched the BJP's national membership drive here on Saturday, called for building the party into an organization that will have representations from all sections of the society.
"Our country is full of diversities. The BJP should also be visible as a party with diversities. People from all sections of society should feel they have a representative in the BJP. The party should be such that voices of the poorest of the poor should reach to the party," he said while inaugurating the programme at the BJP headquarters here.
Prime Minister Modi said that the BJP should have its presence in every village of the country.
"To be a member of the BJP is to live the disciplined life it demands, every member of the BJP is a representative of the people," he added.
Prime Minister Modi, who enrolled himself as the first member, said the BJP has given him immense pride by offering this opportunity.
"It is a matter of pride to become the member of such a party," he added.
Asserting that the nation expects political parties, workers and leaders to play an important role, Prime Minister Modi further said the BJP is a party working on democratic principles.
BJP president Amit Shah, who was also present on the occasion, said that his party wants the entire nation to come together.
"As soon as this drive starts, everyone will have to become a member again. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Assam to Gujarat, we want everyone to come together," he said.
The drive will continue till March next year to enroll new members, aiming to increase party's cadre strength by four times. The membership of all existing members will also be renewed during the drive as it is mandatory for every member to do so after every six years.
Both, traditional as well as online medium will be used for the membership drive . (ANI)
