Big Rip to bring end of Universe
Researchers have revealed how the universe will come to an end. They have explained that the degree of expansion of the universe will reach such an extent that everything in it will be torn apart.
You need not to worry because such an event is not going to take place for another 22 billion years. Scientists working at Vanderbilt University in Tennessee claimed this after examining distant supernovae to figure out the possibility of the Big Rip.
“The idea of the Big Rip is that eventually even the constituents of matter would start separating from each other. You’d be seeing all the atoms being ripped apart … it’s fair to say that it’s a dramatic scenario”, said mathematician Dr. Marcelo Disconzi.
The Big Rip is not the only phenomenon to eventually destroy the universe, as other theories suggest that the Big Crunch could also do the same by reversing the Big Bang and contracting everything. The Big Freeze is another threat to the universe, in which the universe becomes too cold to sustain life.
However, the new study has showed that the universe will come to end in about 22 billion years from now and its demise would be attributable to the Big Rip. Everything from galaxies, solar system, Earth, plants, animals to atoms will rip apart.
If the theory turns out to be true, researchers will have new calculation to make about the ultimate fate of the universe. It may also help researchers gain insight into dark energy.
