Bharti Airtel CEO hopes earlier 3G spectrum allocation
Bharti Airtel, country’s leading telecom firm, is hopeful of scheduled allocation of 3G spectrums in January for enabling it to roll out third generation services in the country.
The Department of Communications held a pre-bidding conference on Monday, discussing 3G allocation and number of slots in every telecom circle in the highly potential telecom market of the world.
Manoj Kohli, Bharti Chief Executive, said, "It went well. Our confidence is high. If everything goes well, within a few weeks of the auction we should get some spectrum."
India’s telecom sector effectively handled the impacts of recession and remained almost insulated from its adverse impacts. The telecom sector is going to be more competitive due to participation of a large number of players in the segment and by offering call rates at very attractive prices.
India's top mobile carrier Bharti Airtel hopes that price war would continue in 2010 as well with the entry of more telecom service providers in the market.
