Benazir’s stamps, photos in high demand worldwide

former Prime Minister Benazir BhuttoIslamabad, Jan 3: After the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, her popularity has increased manifold, as her photographs, news articles and stamps are in high demand worldwide.

The newspapers published after her demise on December 28 are being sold as historical documents and "people loved her because she was the voice of many" said Qamber Zaidi, a collector of rare stamps with Benazir's images, newspapers, post cards.

"Those who have been hurt from her passing away want to keep her memory alive whether it’s her face on postage stamps, T-shirts or publications," Zaidi added.

He said the postage stamps having Benazir's image were the most in demand, designed and published by the Pakistan Post in 1995 as an expression of respect for Benazir Bhutto.

The Rs 5 stamp is being sold online for 15 dollars while the countries from where the demand is coming include the US, the UK, India and Africa, Zaidi said.

People from all over the world are also demanding fabrics having printed photos of Benazir, autographs, books, articles and books containing her famous quotes and signatures, The News quoted Zaidi, as saying. (ANI)
