Beckham recalled by England for Spain friendly

Beckham recalled by England for Spain friendly London (dpa) - England manager Fabio Capello recalled David Beckham to
his squad for the friendly international against Spain on Wednesday.

Beckham's performances in his loan spell with AC Milan of late
clearly impressed Capello, who also coached the former England captain
at Real Madrid.

Should he play against Spain, Beckham will equal the record of 108 outfield appearances for his country, held by Bobby Moore.

Wayne Rooney, who is close to full fitness after injury, was left
out of the squad, while Carlton Cole and James Milner were both
included for the first time.

Emile Heskey is doubtful for the side after coming off in Aston
Villa's match at Blackburn on Saturday, while Steven Gerrard also
missed out because of injury.

"(The game with Spain) is very important because it will be a different style of play," Capello said.

"Against Germany (in England's last match) they were the runners- up in the European Championship, but this will be different.

"I'm very interested in this game because Spain play fantastic
football, very quick. But we are strong and I think England will be
strong in Spain.

"I am very confident in my team, I have big confidence."(dpa)
