BCCI working committee to meet again on Sep. 15 to find solution for Deccan Chargers

BCCI working committee to meet again on Sep. 15 to find solution for Deccan ChargersThe Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) will meet in Chennai on September 15 to explore a solution for its IPL team franchise Deccan Chargers as its yesterday's meeting in Delhi failed to produce any concrete solution for the struggling franchise.

The working committee of the Indian cricket board met in the capital to discuss about finding a prospective buyer as Deccan Charges' current owner Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited (DCHL) is suffering intense financial stress and is not capable if paying salaries to the players.

The authorities failed to name a buyer for Deccan Chargers as all potential buyers rejected the price being asked by the franchise's current debt-laden owner Deccan Chronicle Holdings.

A senior member of the working committee said that they could not take a concrete decision in the yesterday's meeting because there were a lot of legal implications.

Speaking on the topic, the committee members said, "The matter will again come up for discussion at a working committee meeting on September 15 in Chennai."

Deccan Chronicle Holdings have not paid salaries to players of the team for several months. Some even accused the owners of mortgaging the team to lenders in order to raise funds without seeking prior permission from BCCI.

Deccan Chronicle and its bankers had been asked by the BCCI to resolve the mortgage issue by August 31, but the board later extended the deadline to September 15, after which it would terminate the contract.
