BCCI Approves The Entry Of Foreign Players In Domestic Cricket

Foreign players can play in the domestic matches in India. BCCI has allowed foreigner players to play in local tournaments including one player in Ranji Trophy.

The technical committee of BCCI has given its nod to state associations for their participation in domestic matches. The foreigner players will be treated as guest players. It is worth mentioning that former England batsman Denis Compton and West Indian pacer Roy Gilchrist had played in the Ranji Trophy during India's pre-independence.

The secretary of BCCI, Niranjan Shah informed that the state associations can add one out of four players in the in their respective team. The foreigner player must have played at least 10 Tests and/or 20 ODIs. However, maximum three 'Guest' players will be allowed to participate in the game. The state associations can register 'Guest' players before first September every year.

The approval committee was headed by former cricket player Sunil Gavaskar. The meeting was also attended by Yashpal Sharma, M P Pandove, Snehasis Ganguly, V K Ramaswamy, C. R Mohite,Vinod Mathur, Chinmaya Sharma, and special invitee Ajay Shirke.

The committee also discussed the playing conditions and rules for forth coming matches.
