Bayern without Toni, Lahm for Leverkusen cup clash

Bayern without Toni, Lahm for Leverkusen cup clash Munich - Bayern Munich will be without striker Luca Toni and defender Philipp Lahm for Wednesday's German Cup quarter-final clash against Bayer Leverkusen, coach Juergen Klinsmann said Tuesday.

Italy striker Toni is still labouring under an Achilles tendon strain while Germany international Lahm has not fully recovered from a heavy cold. Both missed Sunday's 0-0 draw at Werder Bremen.

Title-holders Bayern are hoping to put their recent patchy league form behind them with another strong cup performance when they take on Leverkusen at the LTU Arena in Dusseldorf.

"We want to be in at the end of all three competitions; Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Cup. The boys are hungry for this game," Klinsmann said.

"We have to try to fight our way into the game and force Leverkusen to their knees. The boys are really fired up to put a few things right. We know it's an all-or-nothing game."

Bayern have taken only four points from their five league games since the winter break but were 5-1 winners at VfB Stuttgart in the previous round of the German Cup and thrashed Sporting Lisbon 5-0 away last week in the Champions League.

Meanwhile Klinsmann shrugged off speculation over the future of France midfielder Franck Ribery whose fine form with Bayern is reported to have attracted Barcelona among others.

"I am one thousand per cent certain that he is staying with us because he has a contract until 2011," he said. (dpa)
