A net profit of Rs 402.91 crore was posted by Axis Bank during the second quarter of 2008-09, as compared to Rs 227.82 crore during the corresponding period last year, posting a surge of 76.8%. 

The total income of the bank rose to Rs 3,239.45 crore from Rs 2,059.37 crore in the same period last year.

Speaking on this, PJ Nayak (Chairman and CEO, Axis Bank) said, “We will slow down in the second half, but will still be significantly faster than our competitors. A 35% plus growth seems doable as many sanctioned loans will be disbursed.”
