Sydney - Australian stocks tumbled 1.5 per cent in early trading Thursday on thin volume.

The ASX 200 shed 68 points, or 1.5 per cent, to 4,319.

The market was braced for figures showing a jump in unemployment from the current 30-year low of 4 per cent. (dpa)
