Audi plans capacity expansion

Audi plans capacity expansionAfter being an underdog in the domestic circuit for the past couple of years, perhaps the German luxury carmaker, Audi has now decided to go hands on towards the market leadership position in the Indian market.

In fact, as the company is planning to foray into the used car biz by next year, it has recently said that the company will ramp up its output by 50 per cent in India to about 3,000 units next year.

Apart from the capacity expansion plans, the company is also targeting the launch of A7 for the Indian market and will soon conduct a market study for the same.

Audi India Head Michael Perschke said that as the demand is very high for Audi products in the Indian market, the company will be looking at starting the second shift by next year at its plant.

Moreover, the India head also explained that the total production by the company will exceed the 3,000 mark next year. The company also plans to launch a completely new A8 and a 4.2 litre TDI version of Q7 which will come as a CBU to the Indian market.
