AT&T to only offer Mobile Share plans to new users
Telecom service provider, AT&T Inc has said that it will only offer Mobile Share plans to its new users that include higher data fees.
The new plans will allow users to share data allowances among multiple devices. The second largest telecom service provider in the US announced on Friday that the older pans would be scrapped for new users from 25 October, 2013. The company said that it is streamlining its offers as the data sharing plans are very popular.
AT&T also said that the customers will be able to retain their existing plans even when they move to a new device. AT&T Inc has introduced shared-data service plans in 2012 for its users and has since gained popularity among the customers. Experts have said that such features could help operators retain customers at a time when competition is revamping their US operations.
Customers subscribing to shared-data plans are less likely to switch to another carrier if the service links several devices including smartphones and tablet computers. AT&T is facing increasingly competition from No. 4 U. S. operator T-Mobile US that directly competes with the company.
