Ashok Leyland registers 27% increase in March SalesAshok Leyland Ltd, India's second largest commercial vehicle maker, has posted 27% rise in vehicle sales for the month of March. The company managed to sell 10,698 units compared to 8,437 units a year earlier.

The Hinduja Group Company has sold 9,542 vehicle units in the domestic market with 20 percent growth year-on-year. Exports rose 128 percent to 1,156 units from 508 units.

For the Indian financial year ended 31 March 2008, Ashok Leyland has reported record sales of 83,309 commercial vehicles. Of the total, combined sales in the domestic market's Medium and Heavy segment reached 76,023 units. Exports volumes were up 21% at 7,286 vehicles.

Ashok Leyland Limited engages in the manufacture and sale of commercial vehicles, related components and accessories in India.
