Apple brings up a new range of MacBooks to India

Apple has come up with its new Macbooks, a consumer notebook family which was already launched a week ago in the U.S. The product offers seven models in three categories, all of them being made from a new mechanical design using ‘unibody’ ultra light aluminium chasis making it the lightest and thinnest from its counterparts.

The three categories are MacBook, MacBookPro and MacBook Air where the 13.3 inch Mac books are priced at Rs. 96,500 and Rs. 79,700, the 15.4 inches MacBook Pro will cost the consumers around Rs. 1.20 lakh to Rs. 1.45 lakh. The Pro machine is laden with a ‘stepney’ graphics chip from NVIDIA giving it a high rendering and editing speeds for the professionals in visual computing.

The 17-inch MacBook Pro is on top of the charts being priced at Rs. 1.62 lakh and the ultra thin-n-light 13.3-inch MacBook Air will cost between Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.50 lakh. The price is bound to vary owing to the chip speed and on board memory and storage. The products will also have the trademark design innovations of the company- a gesture-sensitive touch pad, recessed ports, displays back lit with LEDs, light-adjusting keyboards.

Macbook features a change from across-the-board shift to a graphics-intensive integrated chip set from NVIDIA, making Apple as the first one to use new GeForce 9400M 3-D processor. The main processor is of Intel upgrading its Core 2 Duo chips with varying speeds from 2 GHz to 2.5 GHz.

Angeline Tan, Apple’s Product Marketing Manager for Portables and Wireless (Asia Pac) confidently said, “They are designed to be as beautiful inside as they are outside.” She also announced another recent launch of the company expected to be available to Indain consumers in a month’s time, a 24-inch high definition Cinema Display that will cost around Rs. 60,900.
