Anti-dementia Helmet Undergoes Trials
A new therapy is about to come to cure people who suffer from dementia. The new method uses an anti-dementia helmet for treatment of dementia. The helmet emits infrared radiations at low level. A person is exposed to this environment using helmet for 10 minutes.
The helmet consists of light emitting diodes (LED) which stimulate neurons of brain. The helmet is able to retard the onset of dementia by stimulating neurons. It would be priced at approximately £10,000 after clearance for commercial use.
This method is developed by County Durham GP Gordon Dougal at Sunderland University.
The results of this therapy worked well on An American businessman Clem Fennell who suffered from dementia. Clem Fennell was unable to do things in normal way. After undergoing helmet treatment he recovered his earlier personality again, according to his wife. Now, he can go for shopping and take telephonic call normally. Clem’s 22-year old daughter also expressed her pleasure on the recovery of her father.
Dr. Dougal said that the helmet will prove very much beneficial for people suffering with dementia and Alzheimer. Alzheimer’s Society also expressed happiness on this discovery and said that it would change the life of millions of people.
