Bollywood actress-singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthy landed into trouble when the Mumbai police filed charges against her under the Child Labour Act for illegally employing a minor girl.

Confirming the development, Nawab Malik, Maharashtra Labour Minister said: "Suchitra Krishnamurthy (Bollywood actor) employed a minor girl, Naranti, as domestic help."

However, Suchitra has denied the charges.

While speaking on this, Suchitra said: "I am shocked. I defy anybody to come forward and furnish details on this."

Apart from this, another minor girl named Laila Khan was also rescued from the house of another actress Lakshmi.

Malik informed the media persons that the state government would now proceed against them under the Child Labour Act and the Juvenile Justice Act.

It may be recalled that last week a Mumbai-based TV actress named Urvashi Dhanorkar was arrested for torturing a 10-year-old girl who was employed as a maid at her residence at suburban Versova.
