Analysis missing from WA Govt's port spends

Colin-BarnettA parliamentary committee uttered that the West Australian government invested millions of dollars to the Oakajee Port development in the state's Midwest devoid of as it should be evaluating whether it was a valuable investment or not.

Last year in the month of May, a promised was made by the state government to give $339 million to the $4.4 billion Oakajee project, which was swiftly matched by the central government following entrancing by WA Premier Colin Barnett.

On Thursday the parliamentary committee reported that there was no profit making analysis done at the time of financing the common-use transportation at the Oakajee Port project.

As a result, before it was not decided whether this deal signified the best price for money for the state.

In favor of the Oakajee Port common-use infrastructure the Commonwealth financial support is party on the bankable feasibility study (BFS) which represents a positive cost-benefit effect and money-making rate of return.

The project under its Oakajee Port is developed by the Murchison Metals Ltd.
