Aliens could exist on Earth-like planets

A new study says that creatures similar to those found on Earth could be present on Earth-like planets and some of them could be even more prehistoric than those existing on Earth. The study indicates that likewise extra- terrestrials similar to human beings could also be present on these Earth-like planets.

The study is based on evolutionary convergence of life. As per evolutionary biologist, professor Simon Conway Morris at the University of Cambridge, nonexistence of extra-terrestrials until now leads to a mystery.

Earlier, Arthur C Clarke said that it is possible that the aliens are hiding. According to Stephen Baxter, humans are living in a virtual world and they have just started looking for the truth.

Experts say that convergence could be found everywhere and it is the basis of all aspects of development of life on Earth. Morris said that as life appears, it brings limbs, eyes, intelligence, tool-making and capacity to have orgasms.

Pitcher plants, sharks, mangroves and mushrooms are the predators that would have developed on planets similar to Earth. Morris added that intellect is also a result of this evolution.

Morris explains a case for a ubiquitous map of life on the basis of convergent evolution in his new book The Runes of Evolution. It has been assumed in the theory that various species will develop similar features by themselves.

According to Morris, "Often, research into convergence is accompanied by exclamations of surprise, describing it as uncanny, remarkable and astonishing. In fact it is everywhere, and that is a remarkable indication that evolution is far from a random process".
