Aircel drops Dhoni from endorsing its INQ handsets
Aircel has decided to drop Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni from its INQ endorsement. This was due to the fact that Dhoni was found endorsing mobile handsets from two different brands at the same time.
Dhoni is now endorsing another mobile handset brand named Maxx Mobile. The British mobile company INQ has partnered Aircel. The handset is basically popular for its social networking features.
According to Aircel, as Dhoni is the brand ambassador for Aircel, he can endorse all products and services for the company.
But when the INQ ad was on air, Mumbai-based Company Maxx Mobile Communications which is the owner of Maxx Mobile brand, immediately raised an objection.
Maxx Mobile has informed the fact to Mindscapes Maestros, the agency that manages Dhoni.
The company has asked Aircel to stop showing the ad which features Dhoni. The agency has replied that he will endorse Maxx for this IPL season only.
This has been a temporary contract. And soon after, Aircel has decided not to feature Dhoni in the INQ ad.
