AirAsia to launch direct Kuala Lumpur-Tiruchi flightMalaysia-based low-cost air-carrier, AirAsia, has announced that it intends to roll out its operations in India with a daily direct flight between Kuala Lumpur and Tiruchirapalli from coming month (December).

According to the sources, AirAsia would start its daily direct flight to Tiruchirapalli from Kuala Lumpur with a brand new fleet of Airbus A-320.

To draw the clientele, the airline offers a special fares of Rs 699 (excluding airport taxes, fuel surcharges, etc) on the Kuala Lumpur-Tiruchirapalli flight.

According to the company officials, the proposed offer would be applicable on tickets booked bewteen October 30-November 9, 2008, for travel between December 1, 2008 and July 31, 2009.

The reports revealed that over the coming one-and-a- half year, AirAsia envisages to connect Chennai, Kolkata, Cochin, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

While commenting on the launch, Mr. Tony Fernandes, AirAsia's Chief Executive Officer remarked, “the airline is also looking at options of flying to New Delhi and Mumbai with its long-haul service, AirAsia X.”
