After Cricket, Jadeja Now Enters The World Of Golf!
Former Indian middle-order prolific batsman Ajay Jadeja has added another feather to his cap. The former cricketer has made his debut as a professional golfer at the PGTI Players Championship. The event will be played from February 3 to 6.
On his debut, Jadeja carded one-under 69 to be tied 12th along with the likes of Shamim Khan and Harendra Gupta. Jadeja was penalized by one stroke in the first hole. However, the former Indian ODI skipper left behind the seasoned S.S.P. Chowrasia.
Speaking with the media persons, Jadeja said that he had not set any benchmark for himself and just wanted to play and get better and better. He said, “"When I was a cricketer, I thought it to be the only difficult sport. I thought only in cricket you are under pressure ... But there's lot more pressure here."
On the question of comparison of the two games, Jadeja said, “There's a lot of difference. In cricket, you have teammates to help you out when you are in trouble. But here, you are alone in the middle and there's nobody you can turn to. You have to fight your way out."
It may be recalled that Jadeja has received a partial card for the year’s tour last month, which means that he is not eligible for the entire tour but he can play in some tournaments depending on the presence of other’s players.
The 38 year old former cricketer has played 15 Tests and 196 ODI’s for India. However, his cricketing achievements were later overshadowed by a 5 year ban for match-fixing. He was also considered as one of the best fielders in the Indian squad in his time. Apart from playing, Jadeja has also acted in the 2003 movie, Khel, along with Sunil Shetty.
