Afridi, Imran Nazir set to return for ODI series against Proteas

Karachi, Oct 9 (ANI): Swashbuckling batsmen Shahid Afridi and Imran Nazir are all set to return to the Pakistan team for the one-day series against visiting South Africa, starting October 18 in Lahore.

The National Selectors are expected to announce the ODI squad after the ongoing final Test of the two-match series ends in Lahore on October 12.

Afridi, who was named the Player of the Series in the inaugural Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa last month, decided to skip the Test series because of Ramadan, and is an automatic choice for the five-match ODI series, The News reported.

Nazir, who got injured during the Twenty20 tournament, has regained his fitness, and has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about his availability. All-rounder Sohail Tanvir is also likely to get a call for series.

The uncertainty over the availability of speedster Shoaib Akhtar continues, as he is still facing some disciplinary charges of misconduct. A PCB disciplinary committee hearing his case is likely to announce its verdict on Wednesday. (ANI)
